I've seen the behavior of a lot of Buddhists out there, culturally, I could be considered as one. My parents were, so by default people assume that I am. But..... nah I don't identify with any religion. I've had a "spiritual but not religious" phase, but I'm having doubts about that too.
I've seen the Buddhist approach for spirituality ( in Sri Lanka) and honestly, it's just as same as good ol' god worship !. People go to a temple, recite some sutras, hoping that "It will make their lives better" or "will have more fortunate circumstances". For me, this is plain old god worship. You just substitute the worship of "Siddhartha", hoping that by paying reverence to him your life will flow smoothly. You know what? you don't know what will happen. All that "gaatha" is there for you to
make yourself feel better .
