Airtel has full 3G in these places:

If you live near above places, you can access fully utilized HSDPA broadband.

I have seen lot of people wants to know about Airtel Data connection, I thought to create FAQ thread, here it is.
All the info here is 100% reliable.

What are their packages?
They offer 3 packages,
Limited: 1 GB for Rs.300 + Tax
3 GB for Rs.600 + Tax

Unlimited: for Rs.1499 + Tax

What are the tax rates?
VAT (Value Added Tax) = 16.67%
MSL (Mobile Subscriber Levy) = 11.11%
ECL (Environmental Subscriber Levy) = 2%

Total: 29.78%

How much is a USB dongle?
Rs.9500+Tax

What is the tax rate for a USB Modem?
16.67%

Do they offer promised speed?
This a question that there is no direct answer, for the unlimited package they said they offer 3.2mbps (409.6KB/s) As far as I know, people experience around 100 - 250Kb/s!

What about their coverage?
Currently, Colombo, Kandy & Galle are 3G covered (with HSDPA).

What is their modem?
BandRich Bandluxe C120 HSDPA USB Modem


Can I use a different one?
Yes, you can buy only the SIM and use it with your own HSDPA modem

Is there any limits like FUP?
No, Its 100% unlimited

What is FUP?
FUP (Fair Usage Policy) is a limit by ISP to save their bandwidth, For example if you use high data volume, you're speed will be limited.

Where can I buy a connection?
Currently in Airtel Kollpity Branch

How much is Activation fee?
Rs.500/= + Tax

Will the speed change later?
Maybe, when users increase speed may change, but, It can be prevented if Airtel construct more towers.

Is there any hidden charges?
No. only the rental

What is their maximum tower speed?
Currently 7.2mbps (on selected towers only)

Can I use existing Airtel SIM?
yes, make sure it is postpaid and activate it for a data plan. (must pay the activation fee)

Can I send SMS through it?
yes, you send/recieve text messages, with your PC also.

yes, you can, just visit to a Airtel store.

2. Still there's no Airtel 3.5G in Badulla, I still use Dialog HSDPA, So, I also planning to get only a SIM, Dialog's E220 is subscriber locked, You'll have to unlock it to use Airtel. (I will add the method later to this thread)

3. I am not quite sure about that, Anyway, there's problem that Airtel SIM's key value cannot be read. Do you know? Super SIM is illegal in sri lanka.
