Heres the New AMD Powerhouse

The 290X

The Titan Killer in Hi-Res & the 780 Killer in Low Res

The card comes with 2 bios settings.. Silent & Uber mode..in silent mode the card's fan is restricted to 40% & the temp limit is maximized at 95C..yup when gaming the card usually runs at 95C

So in order to stop the card not exceeding 95C & fan being in silent mode the card's performance is downgraded to keep the threshold

In Uber mode the fan is allowed to go to 55%..so the card can then amp up its performance & not exceed the 95C mark because the fan can go up to 55% there by getting more performance but keeping in line with the 95C threshold

Or u can let unlock the fan & let it run up to lets say 100% & UNLEASH THE BEAST's true potential

the 290x was meant to compete against the GTX780..it has it well beaten with performance & price.. the 780i is just a desperate gimmick by Nvidia...just shows how much it had hurt them

u know that the 780 was over $100 on the 290x right ? suddenly Nvidia drops the price after finding out that the 290x performs better with a $100 less.. so they have been charging pathetic high prices from the Nvidia fan boys & the fans boys have been paying blindly

The 780i's price will be around $700.. The 290x is $550..Its the best performance per money card period.. u get so much more performance for much less... thats what we have to look at

and note that we are still talking about stock 290x with fan speeds stuck at 55%..because of this the performance of the card is down-clocked to keep the 95C thresh-hold...after a couple of months when the 3rd party manufacturers like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte start to come up with their own coolers & unlocks the cooling potential and when the card doesn't need to be tied down by the temperature thresh-hold..then we'll see indeed
