Since there seems to be more than one bird in the picture the logical answer will be 20... A 3rd Grader can't go beyond that.. :oo:

There are 3 in the picture. updated the post.

And there is a key word here. Don't know the "correct" answer though. But my daughter gave the same answer as me. She's in grade 4. :D

This reminds me of another puzzle which went viral a few years ago.... Didn't have the time to write about it early morning. Here it is...

A 5th grade math exam in China had the following question

“If a ship had 26 sheep and 10 goats onboard, how old is the ship’s captain?”

PS: This isn't a joke really. Later it came to light that the origin of this question dates back to 40 years and was by the French mathematics researchers in 1979.

There is... The Chinese version goes like this. Considering the average weight per each animal 26 sheep and 10 goats would approximately weigh 7000 kg.
In China, if you Captain a ship which is over 5000kg capacity, you need to have a boat licence at least for 5 years. The minimum age to obtain a boat license is 23 years. Hence the Captain must be at least 28 years old.... :P

The origin of this problem was in 1979 by French maths researchers. Later it was picked by the Germans & the Swiss where another version was used.
"There are 125 sheep and 5 dogs in a flock..... How old is the Shepherd?"

The students answered the question by trying out the math operators they know. If you add it becomes 130 (far too old), if you subtract 120 (same story) and hence they divided obtaining 25 which seems reasonable.
Only a handful of the students came out with the correct answer is each country... Which is
"There is insufficient data to answer the question"

It was really an exercise to encourage critical thinking from a young age. (y)

    ha ha got it wrong..

Then... Think about this one too.

"A mother is 21 years older than her child.... In exactly 6 years from now, the mother will be exactly 5 times as old as the child."

The Question: Where is the father?
are you saying he is with her on the bed
