Anyone using AHCI mode with Intel Matrix Storage Driver?

when you disable those unwanted controllers, it should speed up the booting process because those drivers are not loaded. Other than that, it might not do anything drastic.

No. You have to turn on AHCI. SATA drives are, by default, configured to run as IDE. It is easier because for example, in XP, you don't have to load a driver from floppy when you install the OS. Vista has inbuilt AHCI driver, so this is not applicable. When AHCI mode is turned off, NCQ and SATA Hotplug features don't work.

Sorry I can't agree......All new MB's enable SATA functions default ..
Load BIOS defaults and see.

Most people without knowing this AHCI feature installs the OS and once they find out about it, they go into much trouble to switch to AHCI. In Vista, this is easy if you have only one SATA controller (eg: ICH8), but a little difficult if there are two (eg: JMicron controller with Intel ICH8)

    No macho all build for Vista boards wala default mode eka AHCI

    I Try all Gigabyte G/X/P-35/33 boards and Asus boards while i was in here US

    Both of those Flagship models set the SATA mode to IDE by default.

    My P5B-E is and Intel DG965RY was like that.

    I saw AHCI default on new boards:shocked: (Maybe New Bios version:confused: )

    Anyway you have screen shots:( i don't have any thing to prove I'm correct..So wait I'll try to get screen shots from my friends:yes:
