So the gesture in question carries no value at all is it ?
Show appreciation for the forces by changing siggy for 1 week
show tribute to MJ by changing siggy for 1 week

y do you take this kind of things so serious?
the way you guys talk about this reminds me of some members who BARKED out to show their patriotic feelings in ElaKiri at the time of war!
I know you guys arent the same!
MJ is a legend! and his sudden death has shocked his fans and those who feel like paying tribute to him by changing the siggy will do that! right bros?

Those who dont like; please DO NOT
No need of arguements its that easy!
I know what u guys talking about, but in this case its not that related u know
when members were asked to change siggy to pay tribute to Army; buh not all of em did right? not you two even:P
so its just like that; if you want, you change it; if not dont and better to shut the f*ck up too... :D dont u think its more suitable???

Yes he did say it. The speech was shown live on TV.
Don't you think at least in EK, we should break out of that typicalness ?

actually when you think about it, it's not unique to this mj situation.
whenever a certain action is considered cool, everybody, all of a sudden, starts following it. war had gotten trendy and now it has reached to mj's death.
back then, may be even now, you might have noticed, when ppl request songs at radio channels they would at first dedicate it to soldiers, mostly they did it for ti's the coolest trend. this is something like that, members here have understood the sigi as a way to show how cool they are. do you think all that make room for mj at their sigi is heartbroken by his passing...no...may be they are shocked. like you said that's the typical sri lankan mindset.where's the originality in that? by that rationale we can't expect the members here to have respected soldiers, mj or neither.
I'm not trying to initiate a war here, but this unoriginality of fellow members here break my heart.

Of course we should try! I think we ve started it already and now reached to a certain level in ElaKiri...

But then again u dont have to argue about changing siggy on tribute to SL Army and late Michael Jackson to break out this typicalness
If u do mean to do so; y not starting with the scenario related to AtulaSiriwardane??
    eg:-
gang bashing a single and all... there u go.. you have plenty to talk about :D

I never bashed Atula and never condoned anyone else bashing him either. I was never part of that patriotic mob.
The demeaning of the tribute to the SL forces (not just Army) is a better topic to argue on than the mob attack on Atula.
And you're wrong about EK reaching any kind of level. If it had, this thread would've never been created in the first place.

yeahh u got a point broh in a community like this u dont know every member; their inside feelings etc, so yes we dunno whethr they do so to show that how cool they are and so..
But that doesnt imply everybody's showing off right??
So, better not to take this kind of events as a big issue; hmm as for me i am really dissapointed with this kindda arguements at a situation like this..

i rememba there were a set of members who started bashing Lasantha just after he died telling so much things against him. the thing which happened in this thread too is something similar to that and its so bad, dont u think? hmm

and nobody is a fool, so i believe everybody's gna do what suits their range of thinking.

Buddy, this is about the 100th time I say this on internet forums.......I GREW UP LISTENING TO MICHAEL JACKSON.......so naturally, there was a special place in my heart for MJ as I have for Jothipala, Clarence & Milton!!! The 1st non SL artist I admired was Bob Marley (Even worshipped him for a brief period), then MJ,

On the same token, I'm a fan of Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, Mozart, Beethovan, Ananda Samarakoon, Sunil Santha, Mohomed Rafi..............most of these artists were not known to me before they died.........but, I love & admire their music.....if a person become an instant fan of MJ after his death................SO BE IT!!!! Whats the big deal.......and you dont have to remember ten tracks of an artist to become a fan of that artist.........I think you are confused, not talking rationally, don't see the human element behind this......this is how a typical human reacts to situations like this........all over the world........all over the history.......

MJ was a talented musician.........remember Diana??? Why people were so moved by her death????
