Similar thing happened wit Barclays to a friend of mine. It was only a 2gb Usb pen, so not that much a problem. Bt thing was it broke after 2 moths. When we try to return it they pointed that its serial number written on warranty card is different than the one on the pen. So they didnot replace it! How many of us check the serial numbers on the warranty and the device?

These are places they exploit us.

now i have nothing to do with that deal machan, all i wanted was to inform others about what they have done with my VGA. kemathi kenekta wiswasa karanna puluwan. mama illasitinne ne ehema karanna kiyala.

online shopping karana eka thama sl wala 100% sure karanna be neda machan. newegg doesnt ship to sl. right?

there are few sellers in amazon.com and they are selling their stuff internationally..

and the next thing is the ebay.

since the VGA was available in sl, i wanted to buy it from there instead of taking an extra risk. but never knew that the warranty they are providing could become such a big headache

people who got their purchased product working properly will not post in forums to tell that their product is working as they expected..

but people who find faults will report, and ask for help in forums..

you can find faulty products of almost all brands and models of graphic card if you search them in google.

EVGA is the most popular manufacture, and Nvidia is one of the most popular brands. and GTX 285 is their latest product, which is i ordered few days back. and Im not going to cancel this because there are people reporting those issues ALL AROUND THE WORLD..

every brands and models could have faulty products..

and the customer should be protected by the warranty. if they are gonna die just because someone came back with a faulty product and the warranty, that business aint gonna be a successful one.

PC restarting while playing game is not because the VGA card is problematic. So what they have said when u went to technical deivision (VGA is working fine etc etc).. seems true.

The main reason for PC getting restarted while playing games is,

1 - your power supply sucks. It cant give the required power to the VGA & hence pc restarts to avoid damages.

2 - One or more of your PC part is overheating. But since you say in less than 2 mins it happens I really believe its because of the power supply issue

3 - In rare cases it can be the RAM. But if its RAM then the restart should be instant. You wont be able to play for even 2mins.. So its very unlikely the problem is RAM.

The VGA you've bought is EAH4870 which is a very powerful card & requires a whole lot of power. So it's very likely the problem is in your side with powersupply having issues.


p.s. - The reason why it restarts due to lack of power is normally power supplies are cable of little bit of overdrive means supplying a bit more than the rated current. But if its too much then either wires will heat up & melt or something like that will happen.... etc etc..

These things really piss me off, If I were you I would really have punched on his face, The small shop you are referring is that on the small lane in front of MC right ? and on the left side on that lane ?

an advice : Don't buy High End stuff from Unity plaza shops, If you really need them EPSI is the place for you (prices are high though). That's the place for warranties. believe me ;


i bought a mother board frm epsi , it was an asus [commando]
within 2 weeks the board was not working, no display..
then i went their & tell them bla, bla, they told me it will take 3 weeks to replace,
then i shout like mad.. & they gave me a asus p5wdhdeluxe, wifi board..
after 2- 3 months i took adsl connection , plug the rj45... fuc** borth network ports r not working,so i went their & tell bla ,bla..
they gave me a replacemant board, p5wdh deluxe wifi,
so i came home , after 6-7 months, i got a wireless router & try to connect to the router, through wifi..
fuc** there was no wifi chip... but the antena was there..
now i have to plug the antena in to my a**
so i call epsi technicle .. girl answer the phone,, so i told bla bla
then the girl says,
sir ehema wenna widihak nane...by the way her name was samanthi..

they will kill themself, but will not give a cent.

My PSU is 700W FSP and it should be able to run two 4870 in crossfire.

and the next thing is, they tested the card using their own mobo, PSU,, RAM, HDD,etc and their old 15 inch monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution.


next thing is, I ran mem test, then replaced my memory with new sticks. and finally i found the same thing happen with the stress test software. and the same thing happen when they were testing it as well.

yeah I agree with you on the refund scene. They will never refund the money, the only thing they will do is replace the card with something else with the current price of the card & you may even have to pay the differance...

I remember sth like this happend to a friend of mine about some times back when he bought X800XL & in 2 months it burnt & they said they dont import it anymore. So he had to go for another card with differance paid. Eventhough the warrenty said its 3years they calculated the current price of the card for 1 year ( price * 10 / 12 ) ... This was @ PC house not Barclays though...

I bought my 8500GT about one year ago from Media center Unity Plaza! its brand is A&G Graphics lol!!!!!! and when i put that on it only shows 128MB in GPUZ but shows 512MB in windows! !

Turbocache!!! Once in Kandy,I saw in a shop that they sold a GF6200 512MB for Rs7500 to a person,I asked isn't that too old?they said "no no this is a latest one and it can upped to 1GB" poor dum asses,I asked them that all new cards has TC & VRAM should be considered after GPU,then I asked the price of 9500GT and they said Rs8500,I told it's much better,but they kept arguing that 6200 is better The poor guy already brought dumb 6200 ne
