But it is not a Academic qualification. And most employers don't know about BCS. And you can't apply for Msc except UK some universities and Sri Lanka. It is best thing to go for final year UK degree after BCD Diploma.
No brother you're wrong. Employers have a great recognition towards BCS. If you say they don't know then they must be not in the IT trade.
Yes it is a Professional qualification and not an Academic qualification. But you'll be surprised that professional qualification outweigh academic qualification and employers prefer people with professional qualification over academics.
This is an email I got from the BCS Sri Lanka section:
Dear Member
Season's Greetings !
I am sure you will be pleased to hear about the UGC (University Grants Commission) approval given for BCS Higher Education Qualification and the Membership as an entry qualification for various Masters Degree programmes as below.
a) Professional Membership of BCS is accepted as an entry qualification for a Masters degree in IT.
b) Professional Graduate Diploma with Project of BCS is accepted as an entry qualification for the Master’s degree in Computer Science.
c) Professional Graduate Diploma of the BCS with Project and a minimum of two years post qualification relevant experience are accepted as an entry qualification for Post Diploma or Maters Degree.
Also, I am pleased to announce that students in Jaffna are now able to sit for examinations in Jaffna rather than travelling to Colombo/Kandy from the next examination sitting (April 2011) onwards.
Best wishes !
So if you want to do any masters program in IT in Sri Lanka, with BCS you can start one. Also you comment
And you can't apply for Msc except UK some universities and Sri Lanka.
is totally wrong. who gave you this idea? All UK universities accept BCS as a Higher Education Qualification, and you can apply for any course with the right credentials.
The real fact is that BCS is the governing body for IT courses in UK universities and all universities try to make their courses meet the BCS standards. After starting my MSc here in UK, i've heard all my lecturers tell this at one time or the other. So i don't see point you said above is true.
And oh, it was the Sri Lankan Uni's that had a problem with BCS and not the UK Uni's.
