cos of the high tax rates, the sl roads were getting stuffed with super cheap Indian vehicles.. (the crappiest cars you can ever imagine)... importers are importing more and more of then since they are the only vehicle type a mid class sri lankan (the ones who doesnt do politics or wear diamonds) can own.

If the gov reduces the tax rates, the range of types of cars being imported to sl will be shifted to a little higher place, with better brand names and options installed in.

(ලංකා ඊ නිව්ස් -2010. ජුනි. 01 ප.ව 4.55) රථ වාහන ආයනනයේදී මෙතෙක් අය කළ බදු ප්‍රමාණය 50% කින් හා විදුලි උපාංග සහ අනෙක් සියලූ ආනයනයන් වෙනුවෙන් මෙතෙක් අය කළ බදු ප්‍රමාණය 15% කින් අද සිට (01) පහත හෙලන්නට රජය කටයුතු කර ඇතැයි වාර්තාවේ.

නව සංශෝධන වලට අනුව ඉන්දීය මරුටි වැනි කාර් රථයකට මෙතෙක් අය කළ 183% ක පමණ වූ බදු ප්‍රමාණය ම් අනුව 90% දක්වා පහත වැටෙන අතර කැමරා, ඔරලෝසු වැනි සංචාරකයන් ඉලක්ක කර ගෙන්වන උපකරණ සඳහා ආනයන බදු ප්‍රමාණය 10% දක්වා පහත හෙලා තිබේ.
මෝටර් රථ වාහන ආනයනය කිරීමේදී මෙතෙක් විවිධ බදු ඇතුලත්ව 300% කට අධික ආනයන බදු ගෙවීමට වාහන ආනයනකරුන්ට සිදුවී තිබිණි.

මෙසේ ආනයන බදු පහත හෙළීමෙන් වැඩි ආදායමක් රජය බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවත්, මෙම බදු සංශෝධන සියල්ල සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය ඉලක්ක කරගෙන පනවන ඒවා බවත් රජයේ ආරංචි මාර්ග කියා සිටියි.

වාහන සඳහා අධික ලෙස බදු පැණවීම කි්‍රයාත්මක කරනු ලැබුවේ සන්ධාන ආණ්ඩු යටතේයි.
