Ban on Sri Lankan ICL Players lifted!!

Mumbai, Sept. 18 : While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has slapped a 10-year-ban on the players who joined Indian cricket League (ICL), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has done exactly the reverse.

According to Colombo-based sources close to the SLC, the interim committee has decided to revoke bans on those players who joined ICL and will be allowing them to play Club cricket.

As per the ICC guide lines, the ban was imposed during the tenure of former SLC Interim Committee chief Jayantha Dharmadasa.

The logic of lifting the ban by Arjuna Ranatunga and company is certain to shock the International Cricket Council and especially the Indian cricket board, with whom present SLC chairman Arjuna Ranatunga is at loggerheads.

"It may be the first step to allow players to represent the country in future", one of the top sources in Sri Lanka pointed out. The decision was taken at the last interim committee meeting.

"We received the request from a few players and the decision was taken", one of the interim committee members said on conditions of anonymity.

The chairman Arjuna Ranatunga was not available as he is in London, it is learnt.

dan ithin marvan atapattu return wei da danne naha.

and also wat i think is dat arujuna will make a decision to ban players who r playing in da IPL coz arujuna has a problem wit da IPL ne. so if he bans players he needs sum experienced players for da team and who is da choise, its attapattu. so he has to get his ban lifted to get him in da team. i dont think arujuna is doing n e thing good to SL cricket. after he came in da SLC has got into a whole lot of trouble. with india specially. now with this dat tension will increase more!!

Arjuna's intention behind this may be to get Atapattu back.......as he is related to him as well..........

He (Arjuna) really ruined his reputation this time around..........

according to wat i think arujuna is trying to please england. u c england cricket board wants to break da IPL coz they want to start their own series. fo this they need to start sumwhere and da best tool they got is arujuna. ICL is a cricket series dat is not approved by da ICC and also da ICC has instructed local boards to ban players. so now arujuna has broken dat rule too.

wonder y arujuna is trying to please england so much. citizenship ekakata apply karalada danne naha!!

No one has a chance of going against the Indian cricket board these days..
they basically call all the shots...The BCCI has threatened to break away from the ICC if they didn't get the backing for the IPL..
All the money in cricket is coming from Indian Companies..even some english competitions are sponsored by Indian brands...

On the other hand I honestly don't think Atapattu will return to the SL side...
We have a good breed of youngsters coming through and they need time to cement their places in the first XI...
So bringing in a 36 year old, who has played virtually no competitive cricket for the past 2 years, is not a very good idea..
