Yeah both sides does have ups and downs...
But in a typical African scenario... when it comes to finding food, the amount of energy that goes for hunting and NOT to forget the RISK invloved... which clearly seen in this video.... if a LION gets injured he will sure die of starvation!!!
And they always hunt in packs, so whatever food they bring must be shared unlike herbivores!!
The most sucsessful ones are the ones that you just mentioned in your post.. the UGLY Hyenas, they are more stronger in packs because they are more organized than Lions and have AMAZING STAMINA!!! But ofcourse not a BIT majestic as a lion!!
