Every arrangement is on place to hold the Deyata Kirula exhibition from February 4 to 8 under the theme of Eka Mawakage Daruwo. There will be a cultural procession of 23 ethnic groups including Gujarati, Gypsies, Indian Tamils, Sri Lankan Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese, where their cultural identities are put forward. The first day of the exhibition is named as security day, second, cultural, third welfare, fourth, development and the final as media day. A bus service will operate from rural areas so that the people from those areas could visit the exhibition
The entrance fee will be a Rs. 20 “Deyata Kirula” lottery ticket which will be drawn at the end of each day. School children and teachers will be allowed to enter free.
There is a Rs. 500 million allocation for the insurance scheme for each person who enters the exhibition premises is covered up to Rs. 10 million.
“There will be two competitions organised to celebrate Deyata Kirula, cycling competition organised by the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka and a volleyball tournament”, noted Deputy Minister of Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.
Cyclists who are willing to participate in the race are requested to send their applications before February 3 addressed to Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka, 166, Avissawella Road, Maharagama or fax 2846223.
Nishantha Piyasena, General Secretary to the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka noted that, every participant of the race will get a new jersey free.
International and national rules will be applied to the race that covers a distance of 433 kms.
The starting point of the race will be Piliyandala and finishes at the Eighty Club in front of Independence Avenue. The winner will be awarded with a Rs. 125,000 prize.
Development Lottery Board has introduced a new lottery “Dayata Kirula” for the purpose of raising funds for the exhibition throughout the previous year and had been successful.
“Viewers of the exhibition will get an immediate entrance to the lottery draw and can win fabulous prizes including worth of rupees 25 million super draw”. Marketing Adviser of Development Lottery Board, announced.
