Maintenance Cost එක ගැන කිවුවොත් Normal Regular Service එක කරන්න ඕන 8000-10000 km අතර. මේකට Oil, Oil Filter අවශ්‍ය නම් Air Filter එක මාරු කරනවා. Oil එක Shell Helix ULTRA 5W40. But BMW Recommends Castrol. ඒකට අමතරව Cabin Air Filter, Diesel Filter මාරු කරන්න ඕන 40000 km වලට සැරයක්. Gearbox එක නම් Lifetime oil එකක් ත්මයි දාලා තියෙන්නෙ. ලංකාවෙ නම් මේක ඕන උනොත් මාරු කරනවා. Normal practice is to change around 80,000km.

This lifetime gearbox oil thing is an absolute useless lie from BMW. They do it just to make it look like a new BMW doesn't cost much to service. They dont care if the gear box goes bust after the warranty period.

It is better to change gear box oil way before 80,000km`s, specially under slow moving traffic conditions in SL.

I changed my car`s 8 Speed gearbox oil after 60,000 km and 4 years use (from new, so this is from 0km to 60,000km). There were tiny bits of metal shavings stuck inside the filter. It is also a must to replace the oil pan with the oil change (oil filter is inside the oil pan, this is one single unit to be replaced).

This is inside the old oil pan (as i said, after 60,000 km and 4 years use. This is NOT used in SL, so not driven on heavy traffic. with heavy traffic even 60k would be a bit too much i`d think) :
