A bomb explosion has taken place at Milagiriya in Bambalapitiya at 2.50 p.m. today Tuesday 8th of August. It is reported that the incident occurred near the leading girls' school in Colombo.

A senior EPDP official was wounded and three cadres were killed in a bomb explosion in Colombo around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. The EPDP official, Sankarapillai Sivathasan, a long time advisor, a relative of EPDP leader Douglas Devandanda, and a former parliamentarian of the EPDP, was rushed to Colombo hospital. Three persons in the vehicle in which he was riding, were killed, according to initial reports. The explosion took place opposite a restaurant on Dickmans Road.
