How can a person with an iota of brain believe that this is a creation of God and everything is controlled by the Lord ???. When you are obsessed with religion and fed that God Delusion from a very young age you tend to believe that. Then your brain is tuned and wired to such an extreme level one can kill or do anything in the name of God. Christian Crusades and Islamist Jihad all in the name of an omnipresent God. Religion and this God delusion is the bane of humanity.

True... It's the brainwashing/indoctrination that's responsible.
