President makes major changes in the military command.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed Army Chief Sarath Fonseka as the Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen Jagath Jayasuriya as the new Army Commander, Navy Chief Wasantha Karanagoda as an advisor to the President and rear Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe as the new Navy Chief to take effect from July 15.
