Point is that censoring the site won't cover up their blunder

and it might backfire like what happened in the case of the Streisand.

What they should do is fire those responsible for the review and approval process and recall the textbooks

The Streisand effect implies that an attempt to suppress information becomes the main reason the information spreads further. In this case, the information didn’t become widely known because the government blocked the site, it became widely known because the site link was printed in a Grade 6 textbook in the first place.

The blocking appears to have been a reactive damage control step rather than the cause of the exposure. In fact, it likely reduced access for most people, since the majority won’t bother using VPNs to check the site.

So while censorship is involved, the virality came from the original mistake, not from the act of suppression itself. That’s why I’d woudn't call this a Streisand effect.
