Sure, with an android HU you can just use Google maps to track it - that'll show you where the car is.

(Unless the thieves disable it of course)

But the unit has to be connected to the internet. If they reset the HU and connect to the internet, we won't be able to locate it through maps.

Yep that's the rub, it is easier to disable compared to a dedicated GPS tracker
