Here's a question for you man!

The two communities (Tamils and Singaleese) have, since 1948, symbolically in their minds, become two separate entities of their own volition. Why would anyone want the Tamils to declare that they do not want to separate, when it is the Sinhalese who wanted them outside their borders in the first place and continue to do so.

Very Simple, Tamils doesn't even remotely belong the land historically or otherwise which they claim.. If you have any materialistic historical evidence that suggests the land they claim belongs to Tamils you can post here...

And they the greedy Tamil Politicians always asked for 50-50 representation through out when a SL consist of more than 75% Sinhalese at that time.. where is the Democracy?

I have alot of singaleese friends here. I even went out with 2 singaleese girls and continue to befriend them. I have no problem with associating with singaleese people. I love your music. I love your culture. I love everything about buddhism (e.g. history, architecture etc) The question is, do you have any problem with assosiating with Tamils? Ask this question to your self and answer honestly. Then we'll talk.

You have lot of Sinhalese friends? Good! then the answer is in your post it self...

If you have good Sinhalese friends which you have no problem getting along with it also suggests that Sinhalese has no problem getting along with Tamils too!

Now you change sides.. this what exactly your kind's nature from the very beginning.. sorry to say! (that's a fact too by the way about Tamils) Its the root if all problems! Greedy Tamil politicians asking for more than what they deserve!

You asked.. whether it represents Tamils.. YES it does... now what's your problem? the yellow line? you can decode the flag anyway you want.. not my problem!

You haven't answer my question yet... Sri Lanka at least put Tamils on a national flag.. anyone else have done that?

YOU ARE PROUD BRITISH TAMIL right?    So British have included Tamils in the flag? for you to become proud of British than Sri Lankan?

What are you talking about "Diversity"? Are you OK? Of course we talk about Diversity... because that's what wee need... not a divide and rule policy like LTTE who looking for a racially-pure homeland chasing away Sinhalese and Muslims from the North.. we value Diversity that's why South SL is far more diverse than North! Get your facts right!

No they haven't included Tamil's in their flag. They show their equality in other practical ways. If you don't come here and see for your self, you will not understand.

ya... the word i sould've used is "inequality"... i'll edit it straight after this. I need to sleep... been revising all this time before you guys start accusing Appu Army of being LTTE...

1. If Appu-Army represents the whole Sri Lankan Cricket team.. why they print T-Shirts that only shout slogans for Tamils.. Sinhalese and Muslim suffers too.. did Appu-Army "forgot" to print T-Shirts for them?

Tamil people are affected the MOST. I'm sure you're aware of it. There are several organisation where I live that helps people affected by the war. One of them is called "venpuraa..." ever hard of it... It actually helps people who are affected by it regardless of race or religion. Anyways, my point is, Tamil people are affected most as the war is happening in their homeland. And being a tamil, you feel sorry for them and feel you have to make people aware of the situation and speek in behalf of them. (I actually have an exam in 2 hours and here I am... I'm going to kill my self if I fail :()

I answered your 2nd question above. But, just to ensure you understand properly and dont come back buffling, Tamils are affected the most. Yes, singaleese and muslims are affected, but percentage is significantly low compared to Tamils, but they also receive aids along with Tamils (as illustrated by "venpuraa" organisation)

PS: When I refer to affected people, I refer to civilians. Please don't confuse that to LTTE, come back here with unnecessary comment. Venpuraa only aid for those civilians affected by the war and NOT the LTTE. This is a very well know fact around UK and other European countries. Ask anyone whos from UK if you dont trust me.

history? wtf??? Tamil people live in that land NOW. Are you just going to kill them all and bury em? where will u burry em i wonder.

I was directing that question to you. DO YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH ASSOSIATING WITH TAMILS? I have a "friend" doing same course as me, whose parents doesn't have full concent of him assosiating with Tamils. This attutde has to change. By the look of it, you do have problem with living and working with tamils side by side. If so, you're part of the problem. Try to change your attude towards your fellow "Sri Lankans" and view them more as humans, not minorities.

You started from flag now talking off-topic, Ok nevermind... lets talk about practical ways then....

1. Does Tamil is a official language in UK?
2. Tamil children get free education in UK Tamil Schools?
3. Have they identified Tamil cultural values at least given a public holiday?
4. How many UK Tamil political parties vs. Sri Lanka?

Dude if Tamils thought about percentages then all this could have been solved, then they will only ask for what they deserve! NO COUNTRY IN THE WORLD works for Minority.. You can show me if there's any!

You talk about UK organizations, talk about SL govt. too... they too does this on a daily basis for South SL Tamils at least! Why Majority Tamils are in South SL if they are not happy with govt., if there are no privileges? They can merry their way to North right? LTTE will Welcome them... at least the under aged children!!

Yes! you are talking the right theory here... Sinhalese inhabited that land before Tamils! Doesn't that make them their land? Now you want to steal it? or you want to live as Sri Lankans in Sri Lanka.. not EELAM... if you say its Tamils separate land then you talk about EELAM not Sri Lanka... there's only one way that land can be Tamil's.... thats under the name of Sri Lanka not EELAM!! So know the difference!

So according to you then we might have to see the ethnic density of each area and then make a separate country there.. gosh! is that how they do in UK? that would be NICE! 65000sq. km. could be divided into... what... 10 countries?

Dude talk some sense!

1. Does Tamil is a official language in UK?

No... But we are free to express our culture and language without any fear of being discriminated. UK is a multi cultural country. You'd find people speaking almost all of world languages in anywhere (in UK). Tamil is NOT the sri lankan official languge mind it. so this question makes no difference.

2. Tamil children get free education in UK Tamil Schools?

haha... YES  you idiot! Everyone get free education. Now, I'm at uni, I get loans, grants AND schorlarship. I'm paying almost nothing for my degree. I don't work. My parents don't support me financially. Thats not the case with international students however. You have to see some Sril Lankan national students here. They're working their asses off.

3. Have they identified Tamil cultural values at least given a public holiday?

No, but we are free to celeberate it. We won't be stopped if we request holiday on that day. We have laws here to ensure that.
Besides, I'm 'down' with English culture. I celebrate christmas. This is not a problem for me.

4. How many UK Tamil political parties vs. Sri Lanka?
huh? I dont understand this question.

Sri Lanka is an LEDC. UK is a MEDC. Its obvious that UK has a better quality of life. I have a better life here and always will compared to my life in Sri Lanka (as a Tamil) I was born in Sri Lanka. This doesn't mean I have to like the country. IN FACT, I'M NOT SCARED TO ADMIT THAT I HATE IT.

Look at UK. Do you have a freedom development here? I think not. Minorities have laws protecting them here. Discrimination exist, but we have rights, which means, if matters are serious, we can take legal actions.

You talk about UK organizations, talk about SL govt. too... they too does this on a daily basis for South SL Tamils at least! Firstly, I don't speak in behalf of LTTE okey. I disagree with some of their policies. The Tamils in South (btw: I spent 8 years in Jaffna, 4 years in Colombo before coming here, so I have a pretty good idea about this) is Singala litterate. They can speak singaleese. what about those who can't? Since singaleese is the national language, those who can't, will not be able to get a decent job to make the ends meet. They end up in the war zone. I have to go now. If you have anything more to say, just drop me a pm. I don't think I'll come here to check your replies... I'd probably forget this website...

huh? I dont understand this question.

    So let see the answers!!

    1. NO

    2. I asked you whether or not you have UK Tamil Schools? Do you have Tamil Govt. Schools in UK which they can learn in Tamil Language? Do you? I'd like to see some proof then! I dont think so!

    3. NO

    4. NO

Dude!! That means Sri Lankan Tamils are more recognized than "PROUD UK TAMILS"... Damn!! ain't that a SHAME!! ... But nevermind.. you are proud "UK TAMIL"

Dude you said SL has no practical ways... then what about UK? So as long as you have better life you dont care about right? then why fight here? Then what's Appu-Army shouting at? You live in a country where there is no place for ya'll in their constitutions but ya'll shouting for Tamil rights in Sri Lanka...

Oh! by the way! let Sri Lankan students work thier asses off!! that's OK! because one day they've got thier own country to return.. called SRI LANKA where they are trated as SRI LANKAN citizens which they benefit many constitutional privileges!, can you say the same? Oh! no! you are a PROUD UK TAMIL.. so work hard grow your kind and maybe you can ask for half of UK also one day!

SO, WAKE UP!!! if you care about TAMILS talk about injustice that happens to TAMILS from LTTE.. I'll give you a starting point..... talk about Tamil Children they recruit to do their dirty business!!!!

That's better, for Tamils who HATE Sri Lanka, I say "stay there... its not like ya'll make difference even of you come to SL" Same goes to you!

Hey man, here's a fact for you. Out of UK's population, 95 is British white (Actually this is true, even though London has only few whites). ONLY 5 percentage is the rest (including African, African whites and of course Asians). As I said, Nearly all of the languages, you'd find here. If you had national holiday for every person's cultural event, there will be NO WORKING day here. I know this for a fact as the high school I went to had something to celebrate every week in the assembly. In fact, its one of the inside jokes that floated around the school during my time there. Anyways, as I said, Tamil people are waaay better off here. I am tellling you because I know so (having lived in the warzone for 8 years may I add).

Sri Lanka may "recognise" Tamil as a language, but its people doesn't accept us as humans. I know this. I have experienced this. (I am directly affected by the war so, please don't take this to the extream.)

Free education for tamils in tamil schools eyy??? If you respect our language that much, why do you "force" us to learn your language, yet Singaleese students don't even have the option to choose Tamil as an extra subject? That sounds fair to you?

Mate, trust me. The fact is, once I graduate, I will be start earning 5 times the amount that a Sri Lankan international student would be (who's working in SL) even with a better degree. Sri Lanka is a developing country, with a civil war to fund. You can not possibly deny that. Most of the 'tax' that the government gets goes into fund the war. If this is the way its going to go, I think it would be the last LEDC to develop. The economical situation in SL is both very sad and laughable. Look at the currency difference man. Again, you will not understand the benefits that we're getting over here without coming to UK and seeing for your self. Services are way better. Even in rural areas, you get runing water, electricity and a supermarket will be found within 15 minutes walking distance (unless you're in one of the ancient forest grounds of course :P) The place that I was from (in SL), 10 family share the same well, has no electricity, and its definately not hygenic - nothing changed - I came to the country in 2004 - decided never to set foot in it until problems are resolved and politicians pull their socks up and work for what they are paid for.

Actually, I would've made a huge difference in SL. atm I'm doing Civil Engineerng MEng at a very respectable and globally recognised university in UK. Just the other day I was going through the league table... Colombo university man... Do you know its ranking globally? I was browzing through the pages and pages and was incredably shocked to find it in the 500ish place man. If that doesn't make you wanting to stay in SL and continue higher eduatioation, i dont know what will :P. I mean, the only sri lankan university, 500tish place??? Thats laughable. Its just plain stupid.

You're right man. I'm not coming back to SL. Not even for holidays. If what you just said sticks (which I hope it will), you just lost the revenue that you get from tourism every freeking year. haha... well good luck trying to live in a crappy country, of which economy is hanging by a really really thin thread. Hope you brought your daily supply, because anytime soon, the economy is going to collapse taking all of you down with it. It just matter of time :sorry::eek:

Sri Lanka really stinks... I dont know why they have a lion's picture in their flag... They should replace it with a chipmunk holding a stick shouting "help me! I can't bare the smell! This place needs some air freshners! Lots of it!" lol haha

Man... Tamil live in the land. What are you going to do with the land without anyone occupying it anyway? Use it as a junkyard to bury innocent tamil people? (if all tamil's fled, the place would be nothing by a ghost town because lets face it, 1. Sri Lankan singaleese population isnt large enough to occipy entire land and 2. you guys sure aint going to reproduce that quickly :P)

How many years I've been there is not a concern here. I am glad I got out when I did. Ohh... LTTE did requrit children at an early age. There is no prove that they continue to do so. If you could find it I'd be glad to read. Again, I don't speak in behalf of LTTE. I dont like some of their policies. I simply express my opinion regarding the crisis.

23 years huh? score man! maybe thats your problem. Ask your self this question: Why is it Tamils and Singaleese continue to fight while the rest of the multi cultural world(s) live in harmony. Having lived in the country for 23 long long long long years, it shold be an easy question to answer right [this is a rhetorical question if you havent realised already.]
