Was in China just a week ago. No Google, GMail, Facebook etc. But Viber worked with hotel Wi-Fi at most of the places. We were in Beijing, Xian, Wu-Xi, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Vending machines are available to buy a SIM for most of the asian countries but not to SriLanka. Have to go to a mobile provider to purchase one. Even then all messages from the provider is sent in Chinese ;-(
No one speaks English. Chinese are not even helpful. Hats off to Japanese, they will always help you leaving their work aside. Chinese run away as fast as they can.
