July 29, Colombo: Malaka Silva, the son of controversial Sri Lankan Minister Mervyn Silva, has been hospitalized after a group attacked him in a car park in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo, the police said.
A group of about 12 unidentified men arrived in a vehicle had attacked the Minister's son at the car park in the Odel shopping complex in Town Hall today. He was admitted to the Nawaloka Private Hospital with sharp cut injures, local media reported.
The police emergency unit has rushed to the scene after an eyewitness to the incident called the emergency.
However, Police have not made any arrests yet but looking at the CCTV camera footage to identify the suspects.
The Minister who arrived at the scene had told the reporters that his son was alone and the group rounded him up and attacked him.
The Minister (Mervin Silva) speaking to a local radio Hiru FM has challenged the attackers to come and meet him if they have an issue and he will take care of it without going to the police.
