Many may consider Apple to be the most conservative company in the smartphone industry, but that’s if you completely ignore what smartphones were like before the iPhone. Cupertino has been famous for leap frogging competitors in some cases, and for not adopting technologies until it can perfect them. At a time when curved displays are making an appearance, it seems Apple is already interested in the idea, but don’t hold your breath.
Sources claim that Apple is very interested in OLED display technology, and that is good news given how well these displays have evolved in color saturation and brightness. We’ve already seen Apple adopt this technology with the Apple Watch, so it does make sense to see this in the iPhone soon. Sadly even though the source claims that another area of interest for Apple are curved OLED displays, we might not see any of this until 2018. We’re not sure if the adoption of OLED all together is delayed until then, or if it only applies to curved displays though, so there is room for being optimistic. There is a possibility that it could happen before this, but it would highly depend on Apple and its existing smartphone launch cycle.
