    give up dialog

Dialog is exploiting the monopolistic situation since TRC does not implement or monitor a proper competition policy which is essential as market grows.
Since TRC is not taking action we must do someting. I gave up my Dialog connection - let 2-3 million do this and they will not exploit the monopolistic advateages to their benefit. Join hands and give up

"if it shows WCDMA that means u r not under a 3.5 G but 3G and speed is slower."

"what I know the dialog university pkg they marketed it as giving max download speed of 3.6mbps and upload speed of 384kbps.

It seems u got bit of a confusion reg: what I said. Usually in the telecommunication world, What ever the reciever it always shows the more strong type of signals its recieving either 3G or GSM etc. shifiting from one type to another may occur in cases of the load of data transfer. I've also heard some thing same to what u've said, "dialog deliberately shifting WCDMA to HSPA depending on the load " but Im not sure about it. Other thing is any network if they r operating both voice & data with both GSM & 3G, 3.5G technology, always gives priority to voice communication,Its more or less common in enywhere in the world. So even we use mobile broad band, hence the data communication, if the voice communication with 3G phones r high they get the priority, I dont know whether its true in sri lanka but it must be, I think. so when voice customer base is high u may get disruptions in other fields as well. I dont think i have to comment on meanings of HSPA,HSDPA,HSUPA bussiness. reg uni pcg speeds dialog initially marketed it as 3.6mbps and now they have reduced it 1mbps. ( A BAD policy in bussiness)
    http://www.dialog.lk/en/mobile/whatsnew/student_offer.html

Thats bad, as dialog changing their promisses time to time! HIHIHIHI other thing is still here im getting good smooth speed bro!
Mobitel is seems to be good bt no unlimited one ne? 7GB pcg wil monthly cost around 3000 neda?

One of my friend using AIRTEL conn & seems to be good in speed but limited cvrg -Collombo, Galle & Kandy, dont know what'll happen when their voice customer base increased.

If someone's connection is idle it switches HSDPA to WCDMA

    "
about the WCDMA & HSDPA, when there are no data activity modem stay in the 3G or WCDMA network and when any data activity comes, it switch to HSDPA network, this is to reduce idle traffic from taking HSDPA channels. (way of reducing network congestion)
    "(quated from here http://sinhala.kalingasblog.com/2008/09/16/dialog-unlimited-mobile-broadband-hsdpa-vs-mobitel-m3-borodband/ 49th comment )

it seems that you havent read any of my post properly(I wrote 3 post someone copied some parts a post here). this is my personal experience with dialog. and i have put some videos also to prove what I am saying. As I said earlier when I talk to dialog about uni pkg they said it is 7.2Mbps.(I asked via the phone twice and I went to Dialog Arcade personally where Nugegoda and Duplication RD. their answers was the same.) sorry bro. I cant repeat the same thing here and I dont care u accept it or not that what I got from them.(At that time there was no info abt uni pkg in the site)

is this really a unlimited connection???
oh come on we both know after 6GB its DAMN slow.(ealier after 5GB it was DAMN slow)

guys I dont visit regularly so if u have any probs regarding this pls drop a comment on my blog.

    thx

yeah that's why i said, we have to wait some time, Airtel is very new to sri lanka, they have a long path to go :P

Well, the speed appearing in the above application is not correct.

Try to download a file and see... it's the best way...

are you using Airtel or SLT? I heard Airtel BB is much better than Dialog HSPA, because it's an unlimited one. I buy if it's a stable one, I need 500 Kbps speed.

I have an Airtel Connection too (apart from SLT BB) and the max download speed I have seen so far is around 100 - 120 kbps (when downloading a file)

Of cause, you will see a higher value like 700 kbps if you use Speed test.. But, you can never expect 500 kbps of actual download speed from any of the networks here in Sri Lanka...

    :) :) :)
