When I was studying I use to Back-up my assignments every week!

I use to Sync with a Multi-session DVD-RW and also use to keep a copy in my thumb drive..

Reason: XP was not stable enough.. I had to format my PC every 6 months or so!!!

Now, once a month I would Back it up on a DVD (copy paste)!! Not much valuable things to back up @ my home PC!!

And Vista is stable than XP!!!

the purpose of this topic was to find a solution to a specific requirement.

i want to backup data, and the backup software should be able to remember which files were backed up already, and only backup the data that has been modified since the last backup and the new files. it doesn't have to be automated backing up, and i want them to remain as just files, not as one single archive. any ideas?

As I remember.. If you get a DVD-RW (if that is enough to back up your data) Nero can do this.. burn a multi-session disk first then afterwards the second time onwards.. point to the same directory and it will only burn the modified files!!!

I'm talking about 100's of GB of data :D

The problem is mostly with software setups that I have. They constantly get updated, and I want to keep all the setups that I download, just in case.

I use Genie Backup Manager 8.0 to backup all the stuff in my documents folder to my external HDD,bcoz copying and pasting is a pain in the ass and takes lots of time when it comes over 8G of data (of course there are lots of small files too). And also I do not change all those files and only very limited no of files are changed.

But when it comes to backup tv-series and stuff I usually copy them to DVD's or to my external HDD (which has bigger capacity over my fixed disc).

Looks like there's no cheaper solution for your problem because of the amount of data you need to backup!!
Maybe a professional quality software? I have no money problems
