Yup.. There are applications that encrypt the data when you delete them so that even if they were recovered cant be read because of the encryption...

I've tried one bt it takes a hell of a long time to encrypt a 700 MB file when you try to do it this way..

I am not into TECHY side of PC's

BUT, there was a case study which I read sometimes back (about 4 years back) about Military data theft in the Pentagon.

When the culprit was caught, he punctured the Hard Drive and apparently BROKEN it to 8 pieces.

To prove that this guy was the criminal, the Pentagon and some "unknown" company made a software called "anadisk" (not sure whether the software name is correct)

They actually "GLUED" the pieces of the Hard drive with Metal bond and recovered COMPLETE data

hehe AnaDisk is a Floppy Diskette Analysis tool originally from BAE Systems....

You can't 'Glue' Hard drives like that That's hillarious stuff

exactly..the One I used also used the above 2 methods..it asked what do u want to use ?..bt it takes avery long time to encrypt data..

not recommended on 500mb+ files.. its torture..
