Short term this will damage other economies. But in long run the other countries may try to reduce the reliance over US and find other markets this can damage the dollar dominance with time as the other countries may start trading with their own currencies
But US will be more independent from other countries for consumer goods

If US exports drop by 50% that's a considerable amount of USD and there wll be recession on impacted sectors.It's a chain reaction.Anura kumara need to reduce trade deficit with US.

එහෙම නැ නේද. උන්ට ගහලා තියෙන tariff percentage එකෙන් 1/2 උන් ගහලා ආයේ. අපේ 88 නිසා 44. India 52 නිසා 26.

Yeah this is true . But mchn, if the taxes were to reduce on us imported goods, it will reduce the resistance to buy those by Sri Lankan consumers… will make a outflow of the only few dollars that we have in reserve and may deplete. And we will have to burrow again and bla bla but in the other way around US might reduce their tax as well if we do so and we may have an income from the exports as well. I don’t t know,
May be it’s too messed up in our country to predict

Finally someone with some sense.Us still is the world police.unstable economies will bring chaos to weak governments like SL.So do we want US kind of life style or more leftist kind of life style.

Yeah we don’t have any cards to or leverage as big countries like China, India, Canada etc… we might have to find a way through negotiation to survive…
