Dot NET vs. Java

If you can use PHP just use it. It's easy to understand and easy to code. If you want to host your site then you have plenty of options either you can go for cheap web hosting plan or you can just use free web hosting site . And it doesn't matter if your mobile application is a J2ME, Windows Mobile, Android or iPhone app all these platforms recognizes http protocol, so you won't have a problem with you mobile side either.
believe me this is easier I have done it earlier like that, I know this because I have done scjp, mad n wcd still i'd use php for such a project. But if you need some serious security and stuff i can suggest you to use EJB, spring etc..

oh dear i didn't see this reply ..... But still I can recommend using PHP

I was advised to use JSP if I'm using java coz java and php are two platforms and I will have to write separate coding for that. I am more comfortable with java. Have to consider about dot NET too. tnx for the reply

ok.... Well if you are gonna do it using java don't use only JSP at least use JSP + Servlets That way you'll be able to implement a MVC architecture.(But remember ultimately JSP is also a servlet ). If you have time try to use a framework like Spring it's kind of easy to understand once you get on with it ... And it has ton of features you can use ...
