Basicially a DVD rip is usually an exact copy of the original DVD where as a DVD scr (screener) would usually contain a letterbox , but without the extras that a DVD retail would contain. The ticker is not usually in the black bars, and will disrupt the viewing. If the ripper has any skill, a DVDscr should be very good. Usually transferred to SVCD or DivX/XviD.

    DVD SCR is pre-release version.
A screener is an advance video or DVD copy of a film sent to critics, awards voters, video stores (for their manager and employees), and other film industry professionals, including producers and distributors.[1] Often, each individual screener is sent out with distinct markings (such as a digital watermark), which allow copies of a screener to be tracked to their source.

DVDrip is a copy of a original dvd release(after cinema screening period)
