    About the Author
Sally Beacham first developed a passion for computer graphics by stumbling across an online course taught by¿ Lori J. Davis. Sally has developed material for www.lvsonline.com featuring Paint Shop Pro and other applications, as well as paper and digital scrapbooking. She combines her love of paper crafting with her digital creativity to produce purely digital projects, as well as "hybrid" paper crafting projects. She's been a beta tester and consultant for several software companies, and has contributed to several online newsletters. Her photographs and digital scrapbook layouts have been published in several popular scrapbook magazines. She resides in southern Maine with her husband and two cats, and spends her free time bragging about her grandsons. Lori J. Davis is a former college teacher and technical writer who first developed a passion for computer graphics several years ago when developing a personal Web site. She has taught many computer graphics classes online, has been a beta tester for several graphics-related applications, has served as the technical editor and occasional contributor to psppower.com, and has contributed a series of articles to Digital Camera Magazine. Currently residing in New Jersey, Davis has also authored several books including "Paint Shop Pro 7 Solutions" (Muska & Lipman Publishing, 1929685483) and "Paint Shop Pro 8 Power!" (Muska & Lipman Publishing, 1929685386).

    Book Description
Almost every student has to study some sort of mathematical proofs, whether it be in geometry, trigonometry, or with higher-level topics. In addition, mathematical theorems have become an interesting course for many students outside of the mathematical arena, purely for the reasoning and logic that is needed to complete them. Therefore, it is not uncommon to have philosophy and law students grappling with proofs. This book is the perfect resource for demystifying the techniques and principles that govern the mathematical proof area, and is done with the standard “Demystified” level, questions and answers, and accessibility.

    Download Description
PROOF POSITIVE -- YOU CAN DO MATH PROOFS! Here's an entertaining way to learn to prove math theorems! You won't need formal training, unlimited time, or a genius IQ. In "Math Proofs Demystified, best-selling math and science writer Stan Gibilisco provides an effective and painless way to overcome the intimidation most students feel when venturing into math theory. By the time you finish this book, you'll be proving math theorems with confidence! You'll also understand the fundamentals of elementary logic. With "Math Proofs Demystified, you master the subject one simple step at a time -- at your own speed. This unique self-teaching guide offers problems at the end of each chapter and section to pinpoint weaknesses, and a 70-question final exam to reinforce the entire book. If you want to build or refresh your math proof skills, here's a fast and entertaining self-teaching course that's specially designed to minimize anxiety. Get ready to: Explore the wonders of the mathematical world Learn all about logic, validity, paradoxes, fallacies, and forms of deception Investigate famous theorems Develop a plan of action for each proof Construct proofs for algebra, geometry, set theory, number theory, and other math fields See how theorems relate to graphs and functions Take a "final exam" and grade it yourself! Simple enough for beginners but challenging enough for math-savvy readers, "Math Proofs Demystified is a fun way to learn or brush up on the fundamentals of this fascinating subject.

    Review
When compiling this handbook, the author had not just mathematicians in mind, but physicists, engineers, etc. as well. This group in particular will be able to use profitably the extensive first part of the book which collects the solutions of over 2100 integral equation arranged in an intelligible order…the handbook provides a wealth of useful material.

    Critical Incident Management

    Book Description

Most businesses are aware of the danger posed by malicious network intruders and other internal and external security threats. Unfortunately, in many cases the actions they have taken to secure people, information and infrastructure from outside attacks are inefficient or incomplete. Responding to security threats and incidents requires a competent mixture of risk management, security policies and procedures, security auditing, incident response, legal and law enforcement issues, and privacy. Critical Incident Management presents an expert overview of the elements that organizations need to address in order to prepare for and respond to network and information security violations. Written in a concise, practical style that emphasizes key points, this guide focuses on the establishment of policies and actions that prevent the loss of critical information or damage to infrastructure. CTOs, CFOs, Chief Legal Officers, and senior IT managers can rely on this book to develop plans that thwart critical security incidents. And if such incidents do occur, these executives will have a reference to help put the people and procedures in place to contain the damage and get back to business.
