Yes, that is another option machang. Computer Science is good.

CIMA - Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
CIM - Chartered Institute of Marketing
Chartered - Commonly used term in Sri Lanka for 'chartered accountant' (වරළත් ගණකාධිකාරී) status.

So those are 3 different fields/ industries.

You can't tell what is the best. Because they all are the best in their individual areas.

Computing is also divided into sub sections. So choose the field you like most.
Programming? Networking? Graphics and animation? Information Security?

Then do Cisco or Microsoft or Java certified courses.

BSc in IT covers the whole range. But not in depth like Cisco or Microsoft.

Yes. Cisco for Networking. MS and Java for programming mainly
MS do have some networking qualifications too.

Having a Cisco or any other 'professional' level qualifications will definitely add more value to the degree. Just an 'academic' degree is not enough these days.
[There is a great difference in academic and professional qualifications. word it self gives the meaning isn't it? ]

BCS stands for British Computer Society.
If CIM is for Marketers, then BCS is the parallel qualification for IT professionals.

I did @ Spectrum Institute.. but they no longer conducting the course
did u try Singapore Informatics ?? i'l try to find a place.. i don't sure about the teaching but i think Raytronics also doing this course

if you have money go to Malaysia for Engineering. I don't advice doing engineering in India, except you got admitted to one of the IITs. Rest of the Indian universities are useless. Same case in Bangladesh.

Physical in SL is be a good option. If you can make it to do a special, then very good.

so i have a question in new year

i think this is real good time to start this thread again.
i did my a levels last year in math stream and get through.my district rank is 71 and hope to enter physical science.which campus would i get chance to enter?after highly ranked ppl get in to the universities,will i get good universities ?how many ppl get throu to physical from a district?(coz i don't want to go to rajarata or ruhuna).as i know physical scence is huge steam.there are lot of catagaries.can any one explain what r they?its really worthy if anyone can help me?

after that,there wiill be 6 months till university entrance.what can i do till it. i mean targeting carrier(not english courses).i hv no idea abt them.it should parrelely go wit what i'm going to do in campus.and targeting future job market. if any one can help me regarding this issue,it'll be great help for my future.

Since you've not specified what is the District, I can't say the answer. (and I'm not sure about the recent intakes. So it is better to burrow a University Admission Application and search for previous year records).

I think almost all universities are same in Physical stream. The only difference is the professors in the university. If there's a special field you like, search for the professors in the universities.

For the 6 months you've got, I'd say to enjoy as much as possible. Don't worry about career now. And you can decide what to do when you are in the Uni.

I'm hoping to do a degree of IT in Aus... I have only O/L. So I'm going to do a foundation course @ ACBT.
ACBT yana gamanma mama thawa Degree 1ka 1st year kaloth... Can I get an exemption for my first year of the degree????
If it is 'yes'.. Wt courses do u recommend to do.!?!.

Ok guys and girls here is another Pro-Section thread from me . I feel that I'm kind of becoming a Pro-Section lover .

Anyway the main idea of this thread is somewhat simple. I saw many threads in EK where the members are trying to compare courses, Universities and other carrier opportunities. So I thought it would be a good idea to gather all that into one place.

I am not trying play my own trumpet here but I might be able to help some of you there, specially school leavers (Not that I am a pro or having a long carrier myself ). Currently I am into Software Engineering, Finance and Marketing. So I will be able to guide u in some areas there. Plus I personally know that there are lot of members at EK like 'X-Pert' who has a vast knowledge on many areas attached to IT. So as a community I think we will be able to help each other.

So post your problems here and I will try to answer them, when I am around. If there is anyone out there who can help the members posting here, please come forward and share your knowledge. I take it as a social responsibility to help each other.

I am not at all an expert on areas like Music, Sports and Arts where you might be able to have amazing carriers. So I will surely need help from people who have decent understandings on those areas.

Ok this is sumfin very useful ..

Lemme tell u this way.. Um so much fond of IT side.. Well , first of all i was thinkin that i'd be a computer software engineer oneday.. Anw , um on a spot which i need to start a degree so badly now.. Obviously on IT feild..
The thing is , ive no big idea abt this.. I recently got to knw that um kinda specialized in PHP HTML and stuff.. And few told me to do web designin..

Imma case , I dun want to work out side nor i want to spend my whole life on a job.. Well , as a woman , i need to get married sumday and help my husband.. so um seekin something like , u cud work online or sumfin like dat at ur own home.. Well , I pretty know that i have a gud business mind and i still dun like to do commerz.. Um just loving IT.. i duno wt shud i do.. i cant let tym run , before it become a wastage , i nedd to start sumfin usefull for my future..

Seekin sumfin which i cud earn a fair salary.. May not work in Sri Lanka.. cuz most probably i may have to migrate to another country.. Well , i repeat.. um an IT lover..
But i duno which path i gotta choos.. Um soo much confused n yet killin tym decidin wt to do..

Well , mean time , i went thru PHP tutorials n Blacklist too taught me few basics about PHP.. So afta following all the information.. I just created this by my own.. The senario ws made by my own hands n the PHP scripts were originally written by myself.. I just nee a small Guidance to choos my path.. Please , this is wt i ws lookin for.. if u cud help me, it wud be soo greatful of u !
