Crazy Samurai Musashi 2020*

In 1604, Miyamoto Musashi attacked the Yoshioka family at their dojo and defeated master Seijūrō and his younger brother Denshichirō in two duels. To save their reputation, Yoshioka clan set up a duel between Musashi and Matashichiro, a 9-year-old son of Seijuro, and the clan gathers 400 samurai and mercenaries to ambush Musashi and exact their revenge.

An experimental action film. 77 minute, single-take nonstop swordplay between the legendary duelist Miyamoto Musashi and 400 other swordsmen. The 77 minute sequence was shot in 2011. The project unfortunately sat unfinished for nine years. In 2018, through the crowdfunding site Campfire, the production raised 7,818,500 Yen to complete the film. Funding was used to shoot additional sequences to bookend the story, rerecording the audio, animating CGI for blood effects, and for marketing. The film was completed in 2020.
