then when i try to connect to the nonsl server, some files/resources are getting downloaded, can't I stop it, it takes soooooooooooooo long

FAQ:
I get "STEAM validation rejected" -error when joining some servers.
The problem is server-side. Server is using a very old patch which is not working with newer clients. Server must update the patch to a newer one

Or else switch to an older crack (players) I can put my crack here but I don't know whether it would work with every CS version. (Even CS 1.6 has different versions)

What about FEAR Combat??? It's just like a upgrade of CS. And totally free to download.
