Can't buy a new motherboard. Spent too much already on the system. Besides, for the things I do, this CPU is more than enough. 83% of the times the system is idle, and I play games as well.

hey DPG
u hav entered my timing incorrectly
it sud be 57 secs

Why would I wanna downclock the memory?m26k9 said:ah yeah.. problem with that one is you cant downclock the mem with a divider...![]()

That's if the motherboard SUPPORTED any overclocking.m26k9 said:so you can up the FSB and overclock the cpu..![]()

You can't see a difference in performance just by lowering the timings. CAS Latency 5 means 5 clock cycles. 5 clock cycles of 800MHz = 4 clock cycles of 667MHz. Theoretically no difference in performance.dpg said:So you can tighten ur timings?![]()

Mine doesn't! So no point down clocking the timings.

Yea. DG965RY.m26k9 said:oh.. ok... you have an Intel mobo..?![]()

Anusha said:Yea. DG965RY.
Otherwise do you really think I would live in the world of stock clocks?![]()

y?Yea yea. It was a typing error. I intended to say downclocking the RAMm26k9 said:ah... ok..
I didnt mean the timings machang.. the frequency... using the mem divider.. anyway it doesnt support in your mobo no... but anyway Intels should be the best mobo to go with a Intel chip..

The usefulness of the monitor is massive compared to a high clock speed, which 85% of cycles maybe wasted because of idleness.dpg said:U cud hv bought a DS3 with ur LCD money ne..y?

Anyway, for the Core 2 Duos, the synchronizing speed is when mem divider is 2. If I had a motherboard that supports overclocking, I could, without any problem, raised the FSB to 400MHz (i.e. 1600MHz quad pumped), because my DDR2-667 can do 800Mhz without loosening the timings or increasing the voltages.
Maybe when the P35 motherboards come out, P965 bases motherboards will become cheap. Then I can go for a new motherboard. But in SL, we can't predict anything. P965 based motherboards can disappear without any notice.

Yeah, but then comes another problem. Cooling. Stock cooler can handle 3GHz (because 2.93GHz CPU has the same cooler). But then the fan may rotate more and will become loud. Right now, this cooler is dead silent. 900RPM at normal, 2000RPM at 100% on both cores!!!m26k9 said:yeah... true...
u have a monster you can rev more than 3G with no problem.. so just a mobo will do the trick...![]()
This is an AXP 2000+, right?nEoN_wHitE said:here goes mine.. 1m 16sec ( AMD Athlon 1.68GHz, 768 MB Ram)
