At least 24 election-related violence and acts of intimidation have been reported from several parts in the country since nominations were handed over on Thursday, observers said.
They said the single worst incident was reported from Tangalle on Friday when at least six JVP supporters were hospitilised following an attack by suspected pro-government supporters.
Separately at least another 26 poll-related incidents of the same nature were reported even before the nominations were handed over, Mr. Keerthi Tenakoon with the Centre for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) said.
