The CID has launched extensive investigations to arrest a state civil engineer who is suspected to have sold the architectural plans of the Kerawalapitiya thermal power plant to the LTTE as part of a terrorist plot to sabotage the plant.
The suspect, a resident of Jaffna, is even said to have provided the LTTE with a map of the pipe system of the plant.
Based on the maps supplied by the suspect, the LTTE had formulated a plan to launch an attack on the thermal power plant. Security forces have been able to find the details of the failed attack from a captured Tiger bunker in the Vanni. The involvement of the suspect has come to light as a result of the investigation carried out by the CID after having found clues with regard to the attack. Documents in the regard have also been recovered from the bunker.
