    Face it. There is no simple way of asking questions of that form. It is a limitation of the English language.

    Maybe you could ask 'What is your rank? (based on marks in the exam)' or 'At what position were you placed based on marks in the exam?'

    See the link below for another discussion on the same topic. Many native English speakers (a.k.a. suddhas :D) have answered. They were asked to get the answer 'Bush is the 6th president of the United States' using a question. Not one of them was able to.

    Please note that a guy called 'urbandecay' claims to have an answer, but it is pure BS.
