These days I’m having some problems with my Mobitel HSDPA connection. I’ll tell you guys everything which is related to the problem as I think. So if anyone knows a solution, it can be shared with all of us.

Last day I used my Mobitel HSDPA connection was Thursday. At that day, three windows updates were installed on my Vista Business and prompted me to restart to finish installing updates. But instead of restarting, I shutdown the machine after finishing my work. Then next 3days I didn’t use the machine. But I carried my USB modem home and connect from there. At home I have very low 3G signal strength but anyhow I was able to connect to the internet with WCDMA network.

Then after my return to Colombo on Monday evening, I tried to connect to the internet again. But the modem indicated me that only the GPRS connection is available and very rarely it show WCDMA network. But each time I tried to connect it ended up with an error saying that the ‘Connection to the remote computer can not be established’. A few times it was able to connect through GPRS but the Internet was not available. Icon in the system tray indicated that “Limited Connectivity”. Then I gave up the work and tried again on tomorrow. But the result was same. Then I called the customer care, I have to wait on the phone line around 10min after presenting my question, Then he came up with an answer saying that you better try again in a few minutes. Then it should be connected with out an error. But the problem is still there.

Above was the summery of what happened to me. Does any one get a clue by reading above para?

My modem is working well; I tried it with my office pc. It is working well.

What you guys think? Where should be the error?

Network? Windows Update? Modem? Signal Strength?

Many Thanks.

Machan As I believe There will be several issues with regard to your problem. Go to your control panel and check whether .NET framework 3 or higher version has been installed with windows updates. If so you have to remove it and try again. I suggest you that you should install Windows Vista Home premium instead of Vista Business. Some of the driver files wouldn't support with the .NET architecture of Vista Business Edition.

    * And you better connect your modem with other sims if your modem has the ability to work on any network . If not see whether there is any option to upgrade the "firmware" of your modem.

If you are unable to get any solution by doing anything as suggested just try on a fresh Installation of Vista Home premium and install the modem as such it takes the drivers automatically and supports with most modems.

First thing is look for any .NET framework 3 or higher version already installed. If exists uninstall and proceed.

If you give me the details of your modem brand.. I ll look in to the matter in another way...

I’m at office at the moment machan. I guess that I have installed .Net framework 3 as I have installed Visual Studio 2008. But it was installed a few months ago.

My Modem is E156G, I bought it from Mobitel, and so it is network locked.

    Thanks for replying.

Thanks mobitel for 3G Weekly Delight.
    i't is very useful.

yes it could be useful, but I'm facing several dificulties with connecting for some reason, Im trying to solve it out and my intention was not to demote Mobitel.

Mobitel is the Best HSDPA connection ever I had.

it s not a signal problem. most probably settings issue.\
go to control pannel and uninstall mobile partner. also remove cache memory if internet explorer. and remove the sim from modem and reinsert. then connect again to computer.. this will solve your problem...

    Similar Problem

Well, I'm also having some problems with my m3 hspa connection for a couple of days now. I have about 93% signal strength at home and the connection worked fine for about a year. But recently, the connection doesn't seem to work !
Still it shows similar signal strength and connection gets established quickly, but no data comes through the down link ! It only works for a bout one hour all day now.
But this doesn't happen if I use it somewhere else, away from home!

I suppose mobitel has overloaded it's capacity. I'm thinking of moving to another network.

    Hi Guys,
I also used Mobitel HSDPA more than a year, and was very happy with its speed etc. but recently it started giving trouble. it is difficult to get connected now. connection request gets refused (error 619 for BanLuxe Modem). I checked the error code. it's for the ISP denies connection for non-payment etc. That is, Mobitel purposly rejects connection. It should probably because of Mobitel has issued connections more than they can cater. This is further proven by the fact that I can get connected without any trouble at odd times (like 4:00 am).

hey, the same happened to me! I disconnected my data sim for about 3 months becoz of my eams, during that time i used a Dialog pre-paid sim, but aftr 3 months, when i put my mobitel sim back after re-connecting, the same problem occurred, so i just removed the modem and uninstalled the software, and again installed it. For me it worked well, don't know about ur situation, hope this info may help u!
