The latest virus that has created havoc on the internet is Vidyartha College FaceBook virus. Though exact damage it caused is still to emerge, thousands have already been affected by the virus.
It is second major virus that has come to the fore on the Face book. Earlier this month Facebook Fan Check virus was spotted on this largest social networking site.
Vidyartha College is among top educational institutions in Sri Lanka. A report about the latest virus attack says, “At the moment FaceBook “officials” haven’t said a word about the virus or if it’s indeed a virus or if we’re talking about nothing more than a bug. A very annoying bug that everybody hopes it will go away soon.
Reports say that this has happened in the past, but now the virus is not appearing on all FaceBook accounts, it spreads between friends therefore you should be careful on what you click, and on what applications you allow

Lankan virus hits Facebook?
A new virus has hit Facebook with the name of a Sri Lankan school in Kandy. For those who are victims of this virus, they will observe their school/institution name surprisingly changed to that of the place where this particular virus has originated.

New Delhi, Sept 30, 2009: Vidyartha College Facebook virus may damage your computer. Social networking sites have become easy targets of people trying to spread viruses and Trojans in other people’s system.
They also use these forums to deceptively attack users of these social networking sites by hacking into their accounts and getting hold of users’ accounts and contact as well as other details.
The latest virus that has created havoc on the internet is Vidyartha College FaceBook virus. Though exact damage it caused is still to emerge, thousands have already been affected by the virus.
It is second major virus that has come to the fore on the Face book. Earlier this month Facebook Fan Check virus was spotted on this largest social networking site.
Vidyartha College is among top educational institutions in Sri Lanka, a small island nation. The reputation of a school depends mainly either on its physical resources or its teachers and students or educational standards or extracurricular activities and sports. There are however very few schools which could boast of a mix of all the said qualities. Vidyartha College Kandy is proud to be in this category, while inheriting a rich heritage of excellence in the past 65 years of its existence.
The school came into being as a result of the Buddhist hierarchy in Kandy deciding to purchase the buildings of the former Kings College which closed. At this time Dharmarajah College was the only Buddhist school in Kandy in addition to a few Catholic institutions.
The primary intention of the Buddhist hierarchy was to establish a second Buddhist school in Kandy . We respectfully remember the untiring efforts of the Buddhist leadership in Kandy of the likes of Sir. T.B.Panabokke Adigar, former President of the Senate, Hon: A. Ratnayake and Mr. M.B. Kulugammana who made this a reality.
