Saudi rights commission takes up Rizana’s case
The powerful Saudi Arabian Human Rights commission (SAHRC),which is empowered to advice the king of the country or any other body with the exception of the courts, has taken up the case of the SriLankan housemaid Rizana Nafeek. Rizana was sentenced to death for allegedly strangling a four month-old infant.
The Asian Human Rights commission (ahrc) wich has taken on the case ,handed fresh information to the SAHRC.
Director of AHRC Basil Fernando said his organization hasd queried the country’s law in regard to an offence committed by a minor, the mental stase of the accused at the time of the alleged crime and the accsed’s right to legal representation as
