Why PSA’s releases are sometimes late (later than other groups)?
There’s no way(in most cases) anyone can release a video faster than PSA, unless the following conditions are met:
– They use worse(less complex) encode settings. Which I’m sure most of other groups use default encode settings. It’s sad. The way we do, it usually is 4times slower than the default settings.
– They use low quality sources. We always use 1080p sources for web/movie encodes which we know is the best source at the moment(or near future). And we try to avoid low quality releases by groups like TBS,BAMBOOZLE, FLEET, etc.
Read this quote from CRAVERS:
Its sad/weird to say this but HDTV tops TBS 720 WEB in every single way : no blocky artefacts, better audio and subs. You should take lessons from the other quality WEB groups, you dont see 2.0 audio, missing subtitles, or fucking blocks in your face elsewhere (most of the time). HDTV in tv is shit and dead, dont shit WEB up already either.
-10bit vs 8bit. 10bit encoding are about ~20-25% slower than 8bit.
-…?
Look at
Westworld S02E01 for example. The 1080p source released almost 45 minutes later than the 720p one. We waited for the 1080p obviously. Others used the 720p no matter what. We did it in 10bit so everything would be perfect. Others used 8bit. The runtime of that specific video is ~74 minutes -almost twice as long than regular tv shows – which made it even slower to release.
All this obsessions is only because we want to bring you the best we can provide. It’s so easier if we use whatever source comes sooner and blind default settings. But that’s not PSA.
Swear to God, I slept at 1a.m and woke at 5:30 a.m to do this as fast as we can. I could kill for a 2hours nap. Valhalla is resting at the moment and I’m up writing this. It’s not fair(

).
We take samples before releasing. we do rerips and rerips with different settings for each video, until we’re satisfied with the result. we try to improve everyday.
We read people’s comments to see if a source has any problems or not, before we releasing our own encode. So you don’t download something twice. unless it’s revealed after we released it. We can’t predict the future, yet(

).
And someone just asked me “is this an automatic process?” no it’s not. It’s an ART(somehow.

).
Another example is Brooklyn Nine-Nine S05E18 which is came out about 12 hours ago, TBS source. we didn’t use it. we won’t use it unless a better WEB source is available. That’s why we started encoding 4 years ago and we still stick to our rules, no matter what.
If this is not what you like, if you don’t value your time and yourself, that’s fine. Feel free to download from anywhere you like. But it’s not fair to say “you’re slow” “you’re late” “time to go somewhere else”.
There’s a reason.
You waited years for a TV-show or a movie, wait two more hours. But watch it properly. I always say, encoding is like cooking. If you turn the heat up, maybe your food will be ready a little sooner but it’ll taste like crap.
The choice is yours
