FIRE NEAR BORELLA

guys some building is on fire near borella cant locate the exact buliding sometimes may be welikada prison, im not sure.....the roads are blocked and vehicles are not send in front of welikada prison.....


can anyone give more information on this

The fire brigade has deployed fire trucks to Magazine Prison to extinguish a fire which has been reported at the premises, the Government Information Department reported.

The Army has been called in to control the situation at Welikada Magazine Prison, Military Spokesman Brigadier Nihal Hapuarachchi said. Nineteen inmates and one prison official were injured after violent clashes broke out at the prison today.

its a freakin prison riot. 19 inmates injured and hospitalized, 2 in serious condition. Appears the inmates has rioted against a prison officer. During the riot a building had been set on fire but that is under control now.

Nineteen persons injured following the tense situation at the Welikada Prison have been hospitalized while two persons are critical, hospital sources said.

All nineteen are said to be inmates while one prison official has also been injured after violent clashes broke out at the prison.

The tense situation had erupted earlier today after inmates protested against the actions of a recently appointed officer to prison.

Commissioner General of Prisons, P.W. Kodippili meanwhile stated that shots were fired into the air in order to control the situation.

The fire brigade said it has deployed fire trucks to the Magazine Prison as a fire was reported at the premises
