A giant explosion rocked the Chinese city of Tianjin at 11:30 pm local time, People's Daily China reported.
The explosion, which created a huge mushroom cloud and caused a quake that could be felt up to six miles away, was reportedly caused by explosive material in a container at a terminal in Binhai Dist.
CCTV has reported the explosion occurred at a hazardous goods depot.
The number of casualties and injuries is unknown. A producer for CCTV America says he witnessed at least two casualties on video.
