AC Milan make Chelsea star Fabregas one of main summer transfer targets

    pedro-cesc-fabregas-chelsea-2017_1wdoqlese664116bvb06h91vr3.jpg

AC Milan’s new Chinese owners have made Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas one of their main summer transfer targets, Goal understands.

Silvio Berlusconi last week sold the Rossoneri after 31 years in charge to a Chinese consortium led by investor Yonghong Li, and the new owners are set to embark on a spending spree this summer.Coach Vincenzo Montella will have over £100 million to invest in new players, and the main priorities are a top-class midfielder and centre forward.

Fabregas, valued at around £30m, is the number one midfield choice as Milan attempt to close the gap on Serie A giants Juventus next term.Montella is a fan of Fabregas but needed the long-drawn-out Chinese takeover to be completed before making any move for the Spain international.

Fabregas has performed well under Antonio Conte this season but he has not been an automatic starter for the Premier League leaders. The 29-year-old is happy in London following the birth of his third child, Leonardo, and would need to be convinced to leave the English capital.

Fabregas is understood to be aware of the interest from Milan and has respect for the history of the club but will also consider his family before making a final decision.

The midfielder is also one of the Premier League's best paid players on £170,000 a week, but Milan should have the financial resources to make a move happen.
Fabregas joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014 and has made 124 appearances in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.

Chelsea still aiming for the double, says Gary Cahill

    gary-cahill_92q11zg50ln31hylhm5gg3znp.png

Gary Cahill is preparing to lead Chelsea out at Wembley against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final and he insists the dressing room has begun to dream of winning the double this season.

Chelsea face their fiercest 2016-17 rivals on Saturday, who are running them close in the league too after the Blues dropped points in a 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

Antonio Conte will be keen to banish the disappointment of a league defeat in the cup and Cahill hopes victory this weekend could lead to a glorious finish to the campaign."That’s our aim [to win the double]," Cahill said. "It is going to be a great tie. I think for the neutral, it is a terrific semi-final of teams left in the competition. One to look forward to, one that will add importance.

"It adds importance, as games against Tottenham always are. We will be ready for it and we will look forward to it. It adds a little bit but no matter who you come up against, it is a semi-final at Wembley to get to the final.

"We should be preparing in the same way, doing the same things. It is great to be back at Wembley. It is a great stadium to play at."

Cahill has been ever-present in Chelsea's starting line up under Conte this season. He has made 37 appearances and he has taken over on-pitch captain's duties from John Terry, who's become a squad player and will leave in the summer.

Arsenal and Manchester City will face off in the other FA Cup semi-final and Cahill doesn't believe that Spurs are the toughest possible draw for his side as four domestic giants compete for glory.

"Listen, it is four top teams in there," He added. "They are four massive clubs, massive teams. I don’t think it was the hardest [draw] or easiest. Any draw would have been tough. We would be speaking about any of them in the same way.

"We have got Tottenham. There’s going to be a little added with the London rivalry but it is a route to the final. Whoever wins it will deserve to win it, with the strength of the teams in the semi."

'I was always close to Jose' - Hazard rejects talk of Mourinho fall out

    eden-hazard-chelsea-premier-league_1qtneybtcxpm71ephn81tujo6u.jpg

Eden Hazard has hit back at reports that suggested he had a falling out with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese was sacked by the Stamford Bridge side 18 months ago as they languished just above the relegation zone, having won the Premier League title the previous season. Hazard’s lack of form was one of the reasons for their slump and it was reported that his relationship with the current Manchester United boss had gone sour. The Belgium star has, however, moved to dismissed such suggestions.

“With Jose I had a super rapport,” he explained to TF1’s ‘Telefoot’. “The year before, I was the Player of the Season and maybe he expected more from me. I was not so good and it was complicated. “I was always close with him and with Antonio Conte it’s the same.”

Asked to describe how the Italian manager differs from his predecessor, the 26-year-old stated: “They have different methods. Conte works a great deal on tactics but Mourinho let it be.

“For me, I had great moments with Mourinho for two years and this year with Conte everything is going very well. I always take the positive from coaches.“The two are different managers. They have always won, here and in the past. Many people said I didn’t listen to Mourinho, but that’s not the case. It’s not at all the case, I’ve always had a lot of respect for him.”

Chelsea lie four points clear at the top of the Premier League, with Hazard nominated alongside team-mate N’Golo Kante for the PFA Player of the Year award once more.

Real Madrid get Clasico boost as Bale returns to training

    gareth-bale-cropped_f0shu0n6imzh1vgb0jrzeizla.jpg

Gareth Bale has returned to training with Real Madrid just three days before Sunday's crucial Clasico clash with Barcelona.

The Wales international suffered a calf injury in the 2-1 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on April 12.
He missed the 3-2 La Liga win over Sporting Gijon last Saturday and the return fixture against Bayern on Tuesday of this week, in which Madrid triumphed 4-2 to progress to the semi-finals.

Bale completed a session with the starting XI from that game early on Thursday, which included drills with the ball and the use of the indoor facilities, Madrid confirmed.

It remains unclear whether the 27-year-old will be risked for Barca's visit to Santiago Bernabeu.A win on Sunday will see Madrid move six points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand over the champions.

While Zinedine Zidane ponders whether to reunited his 'BBC' front line of Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Enrique will not be able to call on a full complement of 'MSN' attackers, as Neymar is suspended.

'The guy is a genius' - Roy Keane lauds Ronaldo as all-time great

    cristiano-ronaldo-real-madrid-bayern-munich-ucl-18042017_1iie1fj0jf7qk1gokux9i21ra0.jpg

Roy Keane has heaped praise on his former Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, calling the Real Madrid star "one of the greatest players ever to play this game".

Ronaldo has led Madrid back to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring five times over both legs of a 6-3 aggregate win against Bayern Munich. The Portuguese notched a hat-trick in the quarter-final second leg on Tuesday, becoming the first player in the competition's history to reach 100 goals.

"The guy is a genius, it's a simple as that," Keane said on ITV. "You are talking about one of the greatest players ever to play this game. He is a joy to watch."It's been another prolific campaign for Ronaldo, who has recorded 31 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for Los Blancos.

He already has helped the club claim the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup this term, and Madrid also find themselves sitting atop La Liga with seven matches remaining.

"We keep talking about how hard it is to score goals," Keane added. "You look at his stats every season... the goals, the assists — the guy is a genius."
