Zidane reveals he likes Pogba but won't discuss potential Real Madrid move

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane admits he likes Manchester United's Paul Pogba amidst transfer speculation linking the France international to Santiago Bernabeu.Pogba moved back to Man Utd from Juventus in the summer of 2016 for a then-world-record fee but he has now reportedly become unhappy at Old Trafford.

Real are expected to spend big in the upcoming transfer window after enduring a miserable 2018-19 campaign, but Zidane refused to be drawn on the rumours linking his club with Pogba when asked a week ago.

But the 1998 World Cup winner shed a little more light on his feelings towards his compatriot on Saturday.

"Yes, I like [Pogba]," Zidane said at a press conference ahead of his side's La Liga clash with Real Sociedad. "But I am not the only one. Every coach likes good players, as does every football fan."But he's a Manchester United player and I won't talk about transfers."

Barcelona vice president, Jordi Mestre, admitted he too is an admirer of Pogba, and passed similar comments on Premier League stars Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah.

Pogba's future, however, could be affected by the three-month worldwide ban from football activity handed down to his agent, Mino Raiola, by FIFA on Friday.
Raiola was originally sentenced on Wednesday by the Italian Football Association for "false grounds and lies".

The sanctions might also impact Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, another of the agent's clients, who – having been linked with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United – is widely expected to leave the Amsterdam outfit this summer.Hazard, meanwhile, looks set to leave Stamford Bridge with his representatives reportedly close to agreeing terms with Real.

The Belgium international is seen by many as a worthy replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left for Juventus last year. But Zidane has his concentration set on the last two remaining La Liga fixtures of the campaign.

Barca had the title wrapped up back on April 27 and Real look set to finish in third place, regardless of performances against Sociedad and Real Betis.Los Blancos sit six points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid and 10 points in front of Getafe.

Inter close in on €50m deal for Barcelona star Rakitic

Inter are closing in on securing a €50 million (£43m/$56m) move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, Goal understands. The Serie A side, who have been following Rakitic for a while now, are desparate to pull themselves closer to Juventus in the 2019-20 season and want to put together a team that's capable of mounting a title challenge.

The Croatian is seen as a key part of that ambition, while, as reported by Goal, Antonio Conte is also being lined up to replace Luciano Spalletti as head coach.

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with the former Chelsea boss and are prepared to offer him a lucrative contract to take over at San Siro.

Rakitic will bring an end to a trophy-laden five years at Barca, whom he joined from Sevilla back in 2014, having won four Liga titles, four Copas del Rey and one Champions League, amongst other team and personal accolades. He could yet add another Copa del Rey title to his collection, should Barca beat Valencia in this year's final on May 25.

The 31-year-old became a mainstay in the Barca starting XI alongside the likes of Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta, prior to his departure to Vissel Kobe at the end of last season.

The signing of Rakitic will demonstrate a huge signal of intent by Inter as they look to significantly cut the gap to Juve, who have already secured their eighth Serie A title in a row.

With just three games to go in Italy's top-flight this season, the Nerazzurri are fourth in the table, a massive 26 points behind Massimiliano Allegri's side, but remain on course for a spot in next season's Champions League.

Intriguingly, Barca rejected an offer close to €100 million (£86m/$112m) from Paris Saint-Germain last summer for Croatia international Rakitic, although the club's stance has seemingly changed over his importance to them going forward. The Liga champions possess the likes of Sergio Busquets, Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal in that area of the pitch, while big things are expected of 21-year-old midfielder Carles Alena.

There will also be the arrival of Ajax star Frenkie de Jong in the summer, with Barca feeling they could cash in on Rakitic as they look to raise funds to improve other areas of the squad.

Matthijs de Ligt, another of the Dutch side's heroes in their run to the Champions League semi-final, remains on the Catalan club's radar, although there is stiff competition from a number of Europe's top clubs for the centre-back.

Regarding other potential outgoings, there have long been question marks over the future of Philippe Coutinho and despite his desire to stay, he could well be moved on with the Barca hierarchy still willing to listen to offers.Samuel Umtiti is another who could leave, with Barca prepared to sell should the right bid come in in the summer.

:(Man Utd confirm Herrera exit amid PSG rumours

Manchester United have confirmed that Ander Herrera will be leaving the club this summer following five years with the Old Trafford side.Rumours of interest from Paris Saint-Germain have circulated for some time as the 29-year-old entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, with free agency beckoning from the beginning of July.

The tenacious midfielder is yet to make any announcements regarding his next destination, however, but did take time to bid farewell to a club at which he won the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League.

"There is red in my heart, I knew it from the first time I played here and in the moment that I started to wear it," the Spaniard expressed in a farewell video released by the club."A club with thousands of fans that respect and remember all the players who give everything.

"I felt special when I heard my name chanted. I felt proud when the fans decided I was part of this incredible history."Every time I represented this club, in every game, in wins and loses, even when I couldn't help from the grass, I understood what this club means.

"I am going to remember each of the almost 200 matches that I have played with this jersey. Because playing for the greatest club in England has been a true honour. "Thanks for these five amazing years."

Although United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said in March that he hoped Herrera would stay at Old Trafford, he hinted on Friday that the midfielder looked set to leave and might make his last appearance for the club as they finish the season with a home game against Cardiff.

"Ander might play [against Cardiff], I don’t know yet," he told reporters ."We haven’t picked the team and he’s probably going to announce himself later on where he’s going to continue his football."Herrera joined United in 2014 from Athletic Club and has since gone on to make 189 appearances, scoring 20 goals.

He has featured 22 times in the Premier League this season, starting 16 of those.

Guardiola: Pressure is nice - it's better to be leading than chasing Liverpool

Pep Guardiola says he wants his Manchester City players to be "nervous" as they look to seal the Premier League title on the last day of the season.City are on the verge of a second consecutive title triumph as they approach Sunday's trip to Brighton holding a one-point lead over challengers Liverpool, who are at home to Wolves. As the tension builds ahead of the title decider, Guardiola says his players will benefit from the expectation weighing on them.

"There's pressure but that's nice," the 48-year-old told Sky Sports. "We are playing for something unique, to win the Premier League."It is difficult to win once in a lifetime, imagine two. The players have to feel the pressure, to be nervous, to know it will be difficult. But when that happens and it works, it's nicer."

Guardiola's team have clawed their way back from being 13 points behind Liverpool at the end of 2018 to lead the table, having won all but one game since the turn of the year. And the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach says the reigning champions are worthy of their place at the top after forcing their way back into the race.

"When we were three points behind Liverpool, people were saying that chasing them was better," he said. "No, it was better to be leading because it is in your hands."We have won the last 13 games so we deserve to be in this position. And we are going to defend it."

With one game left to go, the coach wants his side to go all out to ensure they take home the trophy when they line up against a Brighton side already certain to stay up this term."Go out there, be aggressive, be focused in all departments, and try to score as many goals as possible," he added.

"For a few weeks it has been in our hands. That's what we wanted."

'What is next?' - Pochettino wants 'clear' Tottenham plan before committing to future

Mauricio Pochettino will delay talks with chairman Daniel Levy over his future as Tottenham manager until after next month's Champions League final and is demanding a 'clear' plan for the future.

Spurs booked their place in the June 1 showpiece with an incredible comeback victory against Ajax in midweek, as they recovered from three goals down on aggregate at half-time to progress through 3-3 on away goals.

Pochettino, previously linked with the Manchester United and Real Madrid jobs, hinted ahead of the match in Amsterdam that he would consider quitting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if his players pulled off a "miracle" and lifted the famous trophy.

And after keeping alive Tottenham's hopes of winning their first piece of European silverware since going all the way in the 1983-84 UEFA Cup, the 47-year-old fell short of committing himself to another season in north London until he meets face-to-face with Levy.

"After five years, I will repeat, after five years, it's a moment to close a chapter," he said at Friday's news conference. "It's not going to be the same on July 1 or 6 or 7 when we start the pre-season. It's so important to have a clear idea of the project, the challenge that we're going to have ahead of us.

"It was very clear five years ago that the priority was always going to be the stadium being finished and finishing the facilities here at the training ground. We feel so proud because our capacity to manage the situation - that is very difficult, how it affects the football side at different clubs is amazing.

"To have this capacity to manage both and after five years be successful, because for the first time in our history Tottenham is going to play a Champions League final and to finish the best stadium in the world. It's a massive success. That's why we feel so proud of these five years. But what is next? What next? That's the question.

"What next and how we explain to you and what you translate to our fans, what we want for the future of our club. Of course you know it's difficult for me to explain that. It's a conversation with Daniel, I need to listen to Daniel, he's the boss, the owner. I need to know what I explain to you and you translate to our fans."

Pochettino hailed his players as "superheroes" following the 3-2 win in Amsterdam, with a second-half hat-trick from Lucas Moura setting up a meeting with Premier League rivals Liverpool in the final.

Speaking two days on from that famous Triumph, the Argentinian manager said: "The players, the staff, all the people who cannot put a face on but they are there working a lot. I want to reward them with our words because all that we suffer to arrive and live this dream and this happiness today at this amazing club, it's priceless.

"Until today it was so clear. Our ambition brought us to play a final of the Champions League. No-one believed, if we said five years ago, in five years we are going to open the best stadium in the world and play the quarter-final and semi-final of the Champions League at our new stadium and then play in the final of the Champions League, you would say 'what do you drink? I want the same'.

"But today it is reality. It's reality because of our ambition, our capacity, the effort, that is why I'm not tired to repeat that our players are heroes. They need to feel the love from everyone at the club, of course our fans because of all the effort we are doing.

"With all the money to win trophies, to live this type of moment, that's why I broke down and started to cry. It was an amazing moment. When you go back, we had very small dreams, but when you achieve one of the biggest dreams of your life, it's difficult to keep inside.

"That's why now it's a moment to enjoy, finish in the best way and play Sunday and prepare for the final, which will be an amazing moment for all our fans. After the final it will be a time to talk a lot and listen. What next?"
