KILINOCHCHI: AT THE END OF FIERCE BATTLE fought in the general area of PANDIVEDDIKULAM, troops captured four LTTE strong points Friday (03).
The first confrontation took place around 11.00 a.m. in which LTTE lost one strong point. Four of LTTE fighting cadres were killed and five were injured.
After about forty minutes, soldiers mounted another attack on Tiger strong points in the same area using RPGs (Rocket Propeller Guns) mortar and small arms and captured three strong points. Four more Tigers were killed and five injured.
Meanwhile, Tigers fired mortars towards the troops clearing the area around PANDIVEDDIKULAM at about 1.00 p.m.
Three soldiers laid their lives and twelve were injured in those incidents.
Similarly, two Tiger terrorists were killed and two soldiers were injured in fighting at VENNERIKKULAM.
