    why dnt u guys jst get ubuntu and customize ur own linux distro :P :P ;)...
    and that is wht nw im doing @ da moment :P :P

    and 4 my knowledge dis Solaris and Linux are 2 different things :yes: :yes:
    not only from source but even from license type cuz
    Linux is GNU GPL but
    Solaris is CDDL (an open source copyleft license based on the Mozilla Public License)

    Well not all that different. Both are UNIX platforms. :)

    well Linux is mostly a clone of unix if i say :)....
    i dnt knw abut solaris but in Linux as i heard Linux was developed from da concept of Unix :).... and it is not with a unix platform.... :S :S

    Solaris is the OS developed by sun micro systems initially for their sparc range of processors which ran mini computers and main frames. Recently they began porting solaris to the x86 architecture as well and open solaris is one of their iniciatives of broadening their presence in the x86 market as well as thier contribution to the FOSS world.

    Solaris is not Unix just as Linux is not Unix.
