why dnt u guys jst get ubuntu and customize ur own linux distro ...
and that is wht nw im doing @ da moment

i've done remastering 4 years ago with knoppix....
knoppix is even better....
but UBUNTU is a total shit.....

Solaris is the OS developed by sun micro systems initially for their sparc range of processors which ran mini computers and main frames. Recently they began porting solaris to the x86 architecture as well and open solaris is one of their iniciatives of broadening their presence in the x86 market as well as thier contribution to the FOSS world.

Solaris is not Unix just as Linux is not Unix.

well i knw about that .....
and another thing opensolaris is not the only one which sun hv they hv belinx and some others too .... i got 2 knw abut cuz i got a original dvd frm them ... and there i found some live versions of them..... that was somewhere around 2006 ...

I agree....
People who don't know about earlier Knoppix versions loves Ubuntu.
I think ubuntu is tooo slow.

sure macho....i\ve remastered knoppix....and it have many functions than crappy ubuntu..i think ubutu became famous coz free CDs;nothing else.....
i've used many ubuntu versions till 8.10 64bit...for me all are crappy...
and it can be booted on old pcs with less RAM....but knoppix worked well on my old P-MMX 233Mhz....too....
