as I mentioned did u try cleaning the mini usb port. if not work get a sharp end twizer and clean copper contacts in usb port. ( do it very slowly, use a touch) some times these copper contacts get bend with use. try to align it.

in Phone... i hope you tried different USB cable.

settings=more settings=usb uilities=connect storage to pc = dan cable aka connect karnna

works with windows 8
but u have to close media players before connected to the PC.
If u not do it, pc take your phone as a media device.
