Resident Evil 7 sells 2.5m, demo downloaded over 7m times, says Capcom


Resident Evil 7 has shipped 2.5 million copies to retailers and Capcom is happily counting them as sold.

The publishers reckons its new purpose-built engine has helped the game fly off the shelves, with downloads of the demo for the game well over 7 million.“with the new RE ENGINE, a proprietary game engine developed in-house for this title, Capcom has pushed hardware specifications to their limits,” said Capcom.

​

“As a result, the title garnered attention worldwide, with the demo version exceeding 7.15 million downloads — a record for the series — and the game selling more than 2.5 million units.”

Blizzard has announced that Overwatch has just surpassed 25 million registered players. For what it’s worth, the game hit the 20 million player mark back in October 2016. In other words, 5 million players were attracted to this FPS game in the last four months.

Overwatch was released in May 2016 for PC and current-gen consoles.Blizzard did not reveal any additional information about the sales per platform.

Two days ago, Blizzard released a massive new patch for Overwatch. Patch 1.7 featured a number of balance tweaks, fixes that have been reported by the game’s community, introduced the Year of the Rooster seasonal event, and added a capture the flag mode.
