Turns out technology is cyclical after all. Gearbox Software has made is own "de-make" of its original Borderlands game in a 16-bit browser shooter called The Border Lands.
The game can be played on the company's website, and features four choosable characters, different weapons, and a high-score board.
Other spin-off minigames are planned, including Mount Jackmore and Gun Off.Borderlands 2 comes out on September 18 for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3.

Halo 4 developer 343 Industries has outed the game's list of Achievements, which offer up a meagre few clues as to the shooter's contents.
Spoilers lie below.
The main campaign appears to comprise eight missions, the last of which will unlock the usual difficulty based end-game rewards.
Once again you'll be asked to hunt down terminals, and there's complete a specific task to complete within each level for extra Gamerscore, such as finding and accessing Master Chief's records during the game's opening chapter.
Spartan Ops missions offer their share of rewards, too. They're also peppered with Red vs. Blue easter eggs for fans to uncover. "Our primary goal when creating Halo 4's achievements was to reward milestones and increase replay value while balancing both difficulty and the breadth of game modes," community manager Jessica Shea wrote on Halo Waypoint.
"Our secondary goal was to live up to Halo tradition with weird ass names for some of them (hello, The Dongblainer!). While you will only be able to speculate on the exact nature of some of these achievements, here's a peek at their very basic in-game descriptions."

Rockstar Games has released a few more screens from Grand Theft Auto V, and they show some of the more fun things you can do when you aren't pursuing a life of crime.Whereas the last batch of screens was themed around transportation, these trio of shots showing parachuting, dirt biking, and tennis. Either that, or they show two getaways and a potential gang meeting about to take place.
Looking at Rockstar's screen gallery on its website, there are three more blank boxes, so it may be safe to assume that there are at least as many shots still to be unveiled. Hopefully soon.

Rockstar is capping Friday off with four new screens from its upcoming Grand Theft Auto V. Today's theme is business. This is GTA, after all, so don't expect any 9-to-5 corporate hijinks.
Judging from the images (which you can see in the gallery below), life in Grand Theft Auto isn't getting any less seedy. Two of the screens show helicopter-mounted snipers lining up their shots. Another captures what appears to be a car-carrier heist in progress. The cop doesn't seem to be all that interested, but that's life in the big city. The final pic shows a biplane cruising along a river. We're not sure what that has to do with business. Perhaps the pilot is taking a survey on the effects of erosion.
